Professional development opportunity: National Teachers Enhancement Network Montana State University 's National Teachers Enhancement Network (NTEN) delivers high quality Internet-based learning opportunities to K-12 science teachers. You can access electronic resources, discuss issues online with other teachers, and participate in graduate level science courses via the Internet. An average of 15 online graduate level science and science education courses are available each semester. Courses may be taken for professional development or as part of a graduate degree program in science education . Earth science related courses offered this summer include Hydrology of Streams and Lakes , and Landforms for Elementary Teachers . Courses in biology; chemistry; education, curriculum and instruction; land resources and environmental sciences; mathematics; microbiology; and physics are also offered. Keystone Summer Programs are six- or ten-day residential science education camp full of challenging adventure for youth ages 9-17 (one 4-day program for 7-10 year old only). From seeing snow in July to climbing a 12,000-foot peak to prowling for beaver at night, students will enjoy any of our programs as an exciting adventure as well as a memorable summer experience.

Discovery Camp Highlights
-Earthtracks - These fun, educational hikes are designed to explore the different types of plants, creatures, and ecosystems in the natural areas of Summit County .
- Challenge Hike - Campers hike to a mountain summit or a high mountain lake, where they are rewarded with scenic views. No technical climbing is involved .
- Overnight Backpacking Trip & Night Hike A once in a lifetime experience, spend the night out under the stars. An early morning, but an unforgettable day!
- River Rafting - An experienced rafting company safely escorts campers through exhilarating Class I-III whitewater rapids down the Colorado River .
- Evening Activities - Each night is a different experience at camp.

Counselor Assistant Program (CAP)
Teens 14-17 years of age who have an interest in building their leadership skills are invited to come to Discovery Camp as a CAP. CAPs act in a leadership capacity and serve as role models for the younger campers. Each Discovery Camp session offers the CAP program except Session I

Keystone Mountain Adventures (KMA)
Teens 14-17 years of age will spend 3-6 days in the Gore Range in Summit County learning about the animals and plants of the Rocky Mountains and learn low-impact camping skills. Please contact the registrar at camp@keystone.org , 970-468-2098, or for additional information www.keystone.org .

We are partnering with Holbrook Educational Travel to look at economic and environmental factors facing Costa Rica 's efforts at creating a sustainable economy while preserving their tropical biological diversity. Learn to use GPS units, water quality monitoring equipment, digital camera operations and how to enter incorporate these types of data into digital maps. The Denver Zoo's Young Scientists Program , a middle-school program that allows students to explore an authentic application of the scientific method, has available slots for the 2005-2006 school year.  This comprehensive program is aligned with Colorado Model Science Standards and Frameworks.  Students conduct and present research projects concerning animal behavior and exhibit design, all through the context of the scientific method.    Program Fee : $38-43/student depending on group size
