About the NUE Project
Goals of the Project
- Enhance undergraduate's ability to visualize and understand
nanoscale science concepts while giving them hands-on experiences
related to nanotechnology
- Prepare undergraduates to enter an educated workforce fully prepared
for careers in nanoscale science or to enter graduate studies in
nanoscale science
- Educating future K-12 teachers about nanoscale science and the
societal issues arising from this emerging technology while developing
their teaching skills
- Allow students to have significant interdisciplinary peer
interactions, nurturing an appreciation in students for the cross
disciplinary nature of nanotechnology.
Summary of Project to Date
- Four of the modules have been completed satisfactorily
- Implementation of the modules into courses has begun
- The Nanotechnology Learning Community has been offered twice
(Fall 05 and Fall 06)
- Five summer internships have been used with one remaining for this
coming summer
