Research at the Freezing Edge - Research in the Antarctic

 Date:  Monday, June 25th 

Time:  6:30-8pm

 The presentation will discuss the U.S. Antarctic Program, facts about
Antarctica including comparison of the Antarctic and Arctic, Colorado
connections to Antarctica, working in Antarctica, the International
Polar Year (IPY), and selected Antarctic research being conducted during
the IPY.

UNC Summer Offering - Volcanism of the Pacific Northwest

August 11 - 18    (Dates subject to change)

ESCI 584   Volcanism of the Pacific Northwest Summer Course Offering, with Instructor: Dr. Libby Prueher. Credits: 2, through UNC Extended Studies.
This course will be an 8 day field trip to the Pacific Northwest to study volcanism and tectonics along an active plate margin.  Students will research the stops before we leave.
Planned stops include:
	Yellowstone National Park 
	Mt Hood
	Mt Mazama (Crater Lake)
	Diamond Craters and Steens Mountain Oregon 
Costs
	Tuition:   graduate tuition  $180/credit hour
	Transportation: (depending on number of students) 
	Approximate cost: $600.00 plus food and camping fees
			
Summer Master's Tuition Scholarships may be available for summer students.
